Healing will cost you, so will staying stuck
Are you intentional with your healing journey?
There’s a song in my mother tongue that I’ll never forget.
In this song, the singer speaks directly to patients lying in a hospital ward. He pleads with them to take their medicine, even when it tastes bitter. He says it’s shocking to see patients go on “strike,”
refusing the very medication meant to heal them because it doesn’t taste good.
In the lyrics, the songwriter paints a vivid picture of patients boldly telling the doctor:
“If you don’t change this medicine, we’re going back home!”
And then he shakes his head, calling it an awkward situation where the patients are trying to instruct the doctor on how to treat them.
His message is simple:
Be patient. Trust the process. The doctors know what they’re doing. The medicine might be bitter now, but with time, healing will come.
Healing Requires Intentionality
When I think of that song, I realize how similar the emotional healing journey is. No one can heal on your behalf.
~Your coach can guide you.
~Your therapist can support you.
~Your friends can pray for you.
But at the end of the day, you must choose to take the medicine.
Healing is intentional. It requires showing up even when the process is uncomfortable. Just like those hospital patients, many people start their healing journey full of hope… until the bitter medicine kicks in. That’s the moment where the pain surfaces, the triggers show up, the past knocks on the door, and the work begins to feel hard.
But here’s the truth: ‘You can’t heal what you keep walking away from.’ Trust the Process. When someone hires a coach, it’s not just to have someone cheer them on. A good coach will challenge your patterns, hold you accountable, and guide you through uncomfortable but necessary steps.
You don’t hire a coach to tell them how to heal you, just like patients shouldn’t tell the doctor how to prescribe medicine.
…Yes, some moments will feel like swallowing bitter pills
…Yes, some conversations will bring up old pain.
…Yes, some exercises will feel emotionally heavy.
But that’s where the transformation begins. Growth doesn’t happen in comfort. It happens in the places we’d rather run from.

Healing is hard. But so is staying stuck in cycles that keep breaking your heart.
Healing means facing your pain. Staying stuck means living in it forever.
•Healing requires doing the uncomfortable work. Staying stuck means living with regret.
•Healing demands honesty and vulnerability. Staying stuck means wearing a mask every day.
The truth is, both paths cost something.
The price of healing may be tears, courage, vulnerability, forgiveness, or letting go of unhealthy attachments.
But the cost of not healing is even greater - broken relationships, unfulfilled purpose, unprocessed pain, and years of living beneath your potential.
You get to choose your hard.
What Being Intentional Looks Like:
Being intentional about healing doesn’t mean perfection. It means:
•Showing up even when you don’t feel like it.
•Trusting your coach or therapist even when the process gets uncomfortable.
•Doing the work consistently, journaling, setting boundaries, feeling the emotions, making changes.
•Believing that this pain has an expiration date.
Just like the patients in that song, healing requires patience and trust. You may not see results overnight, but in time, the pain will ease, the weight will lift, and the healing will bloom.

You deserve the healed version of yourself. But no one can hand it to you. You must choose it every single day.
And yes, it might be bitter at first - but on the other side of that bitterness is freedom, wholeness, and peace.
~ So take the medicine.
~ Show up.
~ Trust the process.
~ Be intentional.
Your healing depends on it.
Pain Is Not the Enemy, It’s a Teacher
I know this may sound controversial, but hear me out:
Pain is not always a punishment. Sometimes, pain is a friend.
Pain is not always a sign of weakness. Sometimes, pain is a sign of growth.Pain is not your enemy. Sometimes, it’s your greatest teacher.
The truth is, some of the most powerful lessons we learn in life don’t come wrapped in comfort , they come wrapped in discomfort. There are people who would never grow, never shift, never awaken to their truth… unless something hurt enough to push them there. And if you’re walking through a painful season right now, I want you to know this: your pain is not wasted.
